Hi Bjarne,
I am very sorry you are closing your LJ. Before you close it, can you tell me the best way to follow your work?
There wont be any more work to follow, simple as that!
I'm sorry to hear that you're closing your lj. Are you going to be blogging somewhere else?
sorry to hear you are leaving. I will miss you, I tend to not be able to follow many blogs if they aren't condensed on an rss type page like lj's friends page. I forget them. I have enjoyed seeing your work, it has inspired me to be better at what I do.
I am pleased if i have inspired you. Love and hugs
Bjarne
Because i dont bother anymore, i am fed up with it!
Bjarne
Hope you get a succesfull life with lots of jobs
You will be dearly missed Bjarne, but you could always return to costuming if it pleases you. I have no idea how to close down the blog, but you could always rename it and keep us updated on your wonderful embroidery.
It bothers me really badly, that i never mangaged to make that huge courtdress i had hoped for, but i could not give my husband the narrow space i would give him in our living room. What bothers me most is the 20 yard silk brokade lying here, and the heavy crinoline steel, i shall not use...................... I hope in the future you will slow down your projekts, and start to make handsewing in stead
That is a shame, maybe you can hold on to the material and one day still make it? I've only done a corset and a waist cincher in the whole year of 2010 (besides regular clothing for day to day wear), I do understand the reason why you feel the need to stop. I can also understand the bother of having unused fabric and steel and a project left unfinished. I have been selling some of my own fabrics, closed down my webshop and still have a lot of material left I hope to one day use and just couldn't part with. And you are right, handsewing is so much nicer, but somehow I'm always pressed for time and I stick to handsewing finishes and embroidery, I should really start taking my time. I wish you all the best, for you are an artist and a warm hearted and kind person!
Bjarne, I don't reply very often but I continually admire your great talent. You're truly an inspiration. You will be missed.

Oh Bjarne I will miss you on Livejournal! I have loved following your projects and your embroidery has always been a great inspiration.
I should be very sorry to see you go.
I'm sorry to hear you are leaving LJ. hopefully there will be a time when you can come back to costuming for enjoyment purposes.
I can't be of much help as of closing your LJ, but know you will be missed and I hope you and your husband have a wonderful vacation.
*hugs* thank you for sharing as much as you did.
Even if you don't continue costuming, I would love to follow your wonderful embroidery, so do let us know how that would be possible. If you ever get to the Seattle area, do look me up.
I too, am a historical costumer here in Seattle! Are you part of a historical costuming group that I might recognize you? Would love to stay in touch since we are in each other's back yard....

I'm in Tacoma, a long-time member of the SCA, and I know a lot of people the costuming community. I've also been a panelist at Norwescon for the last few years.
We're coming down to you!!! We come down regularly for various things, but on April 9th, several of us will be in the Daffodil Parade in 18c attire. Wanna come with us? We'd LOVE to have you!!!!!!!
Also, are you on FB? Love to see other photos... email me off list. Lady V.
I understand the need to step away from work...burn out happens! I've loved your work and seeing your process, and I'll miss you! Please know you've been an inspiration for me and my students for years.
Bjorne, I shall miss you and your exquisite work, but I do understand the waste of your time and money on a gown that will never happen - I feel so sorry for that. I think we would all like to see any embroidery projects you might feel like sharing in the future.
I too shall be very sad to see you leave LJ. Your creations always make me work harder on my own. If you will still be doing embroidery, I hope there will be somewhere we can continue to be inspired by you. Best wishes for the future!
I'm so sorry to see you go - I so enjoy following your work! If you blog or update elsewhere, please let us know before you totally get rid of your LJ? Best of luck with everything.
Bjarne, I started reading about your work when I joined Hcost all that time ago, back when I was in college. (Ten years ago now!) You were one of the inspirations behind dressdiaries way back in the early days, and even when I left Hcost I followed your blog and your projects. Your work is incredible, detailed, rich, and portrait-perfect, and I was sorry to hear when you first left the reenactment scene, but I completely understand. I'm sorry to hear that you need even more of a break, but I respect your need for one. You've been an inspiration to so many people, simply by being here and posting things, and I wanted you to know how much I and others appreciate that. Hope to see you around on the internet some time.
Dear Bjarne,
It’s obvious from all of the posts that you’ll be missed a great deal. You’ve encouraged and inspired a great many of us. I’ve appreciated your wonderful work and I’ve been encouraged by your kind words when I was struggling with a specific project. I hope you’ll share your final work with us before you shut the LJ down.
I certainly understand feeling it’s time to move on. Enjoy your beautiful embroidery. Come talk to us sometimes if you wish. Perhaps you’ll share your embroidery somewhere?
All the very best wishes for the future. Dawn
I don't know you, but I have always loved reading about your life and your work, and have always felt friendship towards you.
The best of luck for the future for you and your husband.
Your blog (and website) has brought a lot of joy to many many people. For me, I have been inspired by your costumes, your embroidery and pictures from your outings with groups such as Gustav Skal. I know I am not alone. Do you think it would be possible to keep your blog alive (or start another) which concentrates on your embroidery without the costumes? I understand why you would want to stop the costumes. It seems in the last few months there have been a lot of frustrating situations (uninspiring fabrics, customers who change their mind a lot and then don't show for fittings). Lots of us have felt that way and needed to take a break. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us for so long. :)
Oh, and I want to share a story that I hope you will appreciate. My husband is not a costumer or anything like that. We are going on a trip to Amsterdam and Copenhagen at the end of April. My husband said to me, "Copenhagen? Isn't that where Bjarne lives?"
You are trualy a inspirational person. You are not just a costumer or embroiderer, you are an artist in textiles. I follow your work for at least 10 year or more, your website and then your blog too have brought authentic work and artistic work together and made inspiration for 100s of costumers and embroiderers all over the world. On a British reenactors group just this month a man said he always follows your blog because your work is so impressive. You have been helpful and generous with advice and encouragment to so many. Some bad customers take advantage of this and I see how heartbreaking it is for you to put in work that they are ungrateful for.
I been ill and your blog post I always look forward to for your beautiful workmanship. I hope though you open up another blog with all your wonderful embroidery in it. We would love to see your work. And we will miss you if you do not keep in touch.
I'm sorry to hear you leaving LJ and not costuming after your last project. Perhaps you just need a rest from costuming for a while.
I maybe wrong, but aren't you going to continue with embroidery though? I know many of us would still love to see that too. Or your lace work if you keep that going.
And LJ isn't just for showcasing work, its for whatever you want to write - or if you don't want to write then that's fine too.
You will be missed though.
Hope you have a great holiday - I think you probably need that well earned rest.
Dear Bjarne,
We're all very sorry to hear that you're leaving LJ. However, we are also glad that you're going in the direction that you want and will hope to somehow see your wonderful embroideries in the future if possible. You've been an inspiration to all of us and will be dearly missed by all. *hugs* and best wishes, !! ()~
Oh, Bjarne! I am so, so sorry to hear that we won't be able to follow your beautiful work anymore! When I first started out, you showed me that there were still people out there creating close to perfect 18th century garments, and you have inspired me so much over the years. I will truly miss you!
So sorry to hear that you'll be leaving LJ, but you have to do what's right for you. I wish you lots of luck and happiness on all your future endeavors. It's been an honour and an inspiration to be able to see all the wonderful work you've done through the years. You will be missed.
Bjarne, this is indeed sad news to read. I've known you online for so long, from h-costume to here. I can also understand your costume burnout, as there have been times, even recently, when I've felt similarly.
Follow your passion and bliss, whatever you do. I hope to continue to follow your art, as you've inspired and instructed me in many areas, even tho our time periods are not the same.
Thank you for all you have done and shared with us here. Your presence on LJ will be missed.
Dear Bjarne,
These are sad news, but we have to accept your decision. Just to join the other speakers before me: Your work and your person is an inspiration, and you would be dearly missed.
All the best!
Dear Bjarne,
I understand and respect your decision to leave lj and stop your costuming. Like all the others I want to tell you that you will be truly missed and that you have been a major inspiration for me. Thank you for letting us share in your wonderful creations over the past years. I wish you all the best for the future and you will find a lot of satisfaction in your embroidery projects. Furthermore I wish you and your husband a wonderful vacation. Enjoy that well earned rest.
Kind regards, Wendy
I'll be sorry to see you go. I've enjoyed your posts and projects for quite some time. It is not a time period I do but I've learned a lot from you.
May you have future good times and may your hobbies give you joy. :-)
I'm so sad to hear this... is it just burnout? I hope you will keep your website up so we can still see your past work, and maybe you'll come back to it after a sewing-vacation? :-)
Best of luck to you in any adventure you chose!
Dear Bjarne,
I'll miss reading your blog, you're a very inspirational person.

Min kæreste Bjarne - jeg vil savne dig meget!
Yes, I too vote with the many here on your site: 1. We would love to adore you from afar and ooooh/aaah over your beautiful embroidery work. 2. Blogging is a terrible animal as the expectation is that one must keep up with the posts. I for one, am NOT a very good blogger as large amounts of time go by before I post a new comment. It was too stressful for me to do it "all the time". 3. Glad to hear you are attempting to sort out your priorities. Husbands have a way of wanting to claim back floorspace in our homes. What are they thinking? At least my own husband has been bitten by the Costuming Bug and he is busy designing & building hats, re-engineering and cutting out pattern pieces of garments for me to sew together when I come home from work. Not everyone is so lucky. I am. (wink) One quick question of you, if you please. Once before, you suggested to me where to purchase 18th c men's shoes. You told me to buy Norwegian dance shoes and put a buckle on them. Maybe they were Scandinavian shoes? How do I find these?
I hope when you read this post, you will have come back from a relaxing, wooooooonderful vacation with your loved one. Time away from home can be very restorative. I know how mentally draining your job can be, so it is good to find center balance again!

Great read! I wish you could follow up to this topic
Oh, I haven't been on LJ very much. Dear Dear Bjarne, just from the numerous responses, you can see how very much you are missed. I never knew a human being could create such lovely things as you did. And I am so grateful to own a small piece of your embroidery. I hope you and your husband have a good life, and do what's best for you. Just know you made a deep impression on many of us. I'm going to miss seeing the beautiful photos of things you had made. Val
excellent articles, useful for me. keep writing and happy blogging.
Gratitude is the sign of noble souls.
